There is nothing I like more than to kick back, slip on my headphones and browse through music sharing platforms, such as Soundcloud, looking for new music and upcoming talent. It’s one of my favourite past-times and is also one of the great advantages of the modern music age. Despite the grumbles from some about the current industry, I love the fact that discovering artists has become so accessible and that we are now able to follow an artist’s journey from the very beginning of their career.
Any who, last week I stumbled across a song called ‘Summer Jam’ by an artist named Jas.
Summer Jam has actually become my jam of the summer! It has such a chilled, but bouncy feel and is giving me all types of cool 'Philly' Jill Scott/Music Soulchild vibes. I have fallen in love with Jas’ voice, and after trawling the internet trying to find more music from her; I contacted her management (gotta love Soundcloud bio’s lol) for more info. They came through with an official press release, and I was so surprised to learn that the melodic South Londoner is only 19 years old, guys! Her voice has such a warm, mature depth to it.
In terms of any new music, I was informed that she is quietly working on her mixtape 'Into the Wilderness', which is due to be released later this year. Having already performed at the famed Jazz Cafe in London and popular events such as iLuvLive and SKFest; I'm hoping that Jas has some more live shows lined up for the 211 #squad to check out. For now, I'm patiently waiting on this mixtape to drop. Don't keep us waiting too long, Jas!
